Logline College students from three schools compete in the kitchen for scholarships and school pride. The student chefs are mentored by professional celebrity chefs to perfect recipes inspired by their schools’ unique regional culture.
Synoposis
Campus Cook-Off imagines “Jeopardy! National College Championship” in the kitchen. Undergraduates from colleges and universities across the US participate in an intense cooking competition to show off their skills and school pride. In each episode, three students from different colleges prepare an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert. Their recipes are judged by a celebrity panel of judges. The host of the show is a celebrity chef (e.g. Bobby Flay). The winning student of each episode receives a prize of $10,000 cash. Winners then compete in the season-ending College Campus Cook-Off Championship which provides the winner a full college scholarship.
Each student will have a professional chef mentor them in the weeks prior to the competition. The show’s cameras will tag along with the student chefs and their mentors at their school’s campuses. The audience will learn about the college’s culture and culinary roots. The chefs will also guide the students with tips and techniques for preparing their dishes during the episode. Israeli chef Michael Solomonov, who appeared on College Campus Cooking (also written by Mark Homa), would be a potential mentor.
The setting for College Campus Cook-Off will be in a studio, with three separate cooking stations and a student audience. Each student chef will have a full fridge and pantry as well as cooking / baking equipment. The audience will be jammed with cheerleaders with pompoms and fellow students cheering their classmates to victory. The enthusiastic atmosphere will match the school spirit of College GameDay on ESPN. Celebrity alumni will be invited and interviewed during the episode to cheer on their school.
